As you may be aware we have had a few months break this year, after a hectic year last year with a successful pop up shop, The Thames Festival and our Christmas fair we decided to take the time at the beginning of the year to plan some exciting projects.

We have some exciting events coming up, the first we announced yesterday, a marketplace at this years Lollibop, we will also be taking part in this years Thames Festival, details will be announced in the next few weeks, so make sure you are signed up to our mailing list to receive the information. We also have two Christmas events planned, and who knows maybe some other projects in between.

We look forward to working with and supporting such amazing designers again for the rest of the year.

We are very excited about our new project and the opportunity we are offering to designers.

What's the project?:
We are putting together a book. This will be a 200 page hard back book (160mm x 160mm square).
The book will be an inspirational guide to handmade in London. It will profile designer/ makers based in London and will be split in to 5 sections:
  • North London
  • South London
  • East London
  • West London and
  • Central London.
We are inviting designers to apply to take part in the book.
How much does it cost and what do you get?:
The cost for each designer is £100. For this each designer will get a whole page (160mm x 160mm) which will consist of:
  • 2 large product images
  • A Bio on the designer and the designer's work
  • The designer's contact details and website details.
Designers will be featured in a minimum of 1000 books (the initial print run of the book). We Make London will print more if the initial run sells quickly and more are needed. Value-wise, for each designer that works out at 10p per book to be included (£100/ 1000 books).

Will I be in good company?

How to apply:
Complete the following on-line form as soon as possible as spaces per area of London are limited so it will be on a first come first serve basis:
Note: It's important you select which area of London you would like to be included in. If your studio is in a different part of London to where you live it’s best to go with the area in which your studio is located.
Once we have your details you will receive confirmation of your place in the book.
How do I pay?:
Payments for the book can be made as either a one off payment or in two instalments via online BACs payment.

We are very excited to announce that we will have an area within this year’s Lollibop festival.
We will host a special We Make London section of the Handmade Market at the festival.

Where: Lollibop Festival, Regents Park, London

When: 17th, 18th and 19th August 2012

Times: The opening times to the public are: 10am - 6pm daily. Exact set up times for stall holders will be confirmed later.

About Lollibop:
LolliBop is the biggest UK festival for Kids. It’s a magical land of endless fun for the under 10s and the best summer day out for families. It brings all the thrills and excitement of a festival vibe but without the hassle of camping and long car journeys.

Now going into its 3rd year, this 3 day event is the UK’s only festival where all the entertainment is for children. It will keep our pint sized festival goers busy all day with an action packed programme that will delight your little ones; It has an abundance of shows and activities to keep all ages entertained from 0 -10.
For more information about Lollibop and when activities during the weekend check here:
http://www.lollibopfestival.co.uk
Lollibop are expecting between 30,000 and 40,000 visitors over the three days, with Saturday expected to be the busiest (predictions from previous years numbers are approx 10,000 -12,000 on the Friday and Sunday and 12,000 - 15,000 on the Saturday) so all three days will be a huge amount of people at the event.

We Make London Stalls:
The stalls in the We Make London area will all be under marquees.... we know its August but you never can predict that good ole' British weather.
You will be provided with a 6ft x 2ft, 3 inch trestle table. The We Make area will consist of eight 3 metre x 3 metre marquees, with three trestle tables under each marquee. So a total of 24 stalls. The marquees are a simple design so please feel free to talk to us about ideas for making the marquee you will be in look pretty.

Booking a Stall and costs:
To book a stall please complete the following online form and upload 3 images of your work
http://wemakelondon.wufoo.com/forms/we-make-london-at-lollibop-festival/.
The Deadline for applications is 28th June. We will then contact applicants after the 28th to let them know if they successfully have a stall.

The costs are £120 for all 3 days, £80 for 2 days (booking either the Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday), or £45 for a single day.
If you would like to book a whole marquee with two friends so that you decorate the marquee between you please let us know via email and we will make sure you are positioned together.

Types of Sellers/Products:

The marketplace isn't just going to be aimed at the kids, but the parents too. So although we will have stalls of clothes, toys etc. We really want is products aimed at parents so purses, jewellery, home ware, textiles, etc.
Over the past years they have aimed the market at just the children, and it has been successful. But there is so much more potential. The whole event is a focus on children, but the aim of this is a marketplace that both the children and the adults can enjoy together.
Products that are at a price point that children can buy as a treat for mum, dad, other siblings, or parents getting their child to choose a product for nanny.
We want the same kind of mix as our area at the Thames Festival last year, if you want to see the kind of thing we did please check here :
