Cool 4 Cats Designer Feature

About Cool 4 Cats:

I'm a paper engineer and illustrator, designing childrens' pop-up books and other things in folding paper. I've been making my range of papercraft automata for several years now, adding more models from time to time, when inspiration strikes!

Inspirations:

I'm always looking for interesting mechanisms which can be made from paper, and then combined with an amusing idea to produce my automata. It's harder than you might think to combine the two very different disciplines!

Best Sellers:

This is my most popular model. Don't know why, but people seem to like the idea of children being eaten by a crocodile!

We Make Christmas:

I'll be selling the full range of my automata kit models at the show. There will be 'made-up' versions of all the models for you to see and try out for yourself. It's great fun....turn the handle, see the action! See Kong climb the skyscraper! See the invisible man stirring his tea! See the wonderful swimming mermaid, the Tomb of Doom, the catatonic kitty-cat, and many more! All are sold at very reasonable prices in kit form, are easy to post, and are perfect presents for Christmas. Come and take a look!

Pocket Studio Designer Feature

About Pocket Studio:

I'm Sarah and I love stationery and birds. Over the past year, I have been lucky enough to indulge in both of these whilst producing a range of simple cards and prints. Alongside these, I also keep busy doing lots of other freelance design work; all of which happens under the name of Pocket Studio. My boyfriend Jon contributes his much appreciated design wisdom and creativity in his spare time, so it is lucky that he likes stationery and birds too.

Inspirations:

As a kid I loved Sylvanian Families (small woodland creatures in aprons…) and trips to WHSmith. That probably says a lot about why our products look like they do. We both hugely admire designers such as Otl Aicher, Müller-Brockmann, Paul Rand and Dick Bruna and like to collect random bits of ephemera that hopefully help to inspire as well as clutter up our flat.

Best Seller:

Love Birds was the first card that I created with selling in mind. It was very exciting to see it in the shop and even more so to see all the lovely responses it got. I’ve since made many, many more – it’s great having hundreds lined up together for a wedding order!

We Make London:

We Make Christmas is our very first craft fair which is rather exciting. On our sta ll you will find lots of playful three-dimensional, paper-cut stationery, original prints and customised gifts. I get a bit too excited about Christmas so I’m hugely looking forward to the return of our seasonal robin cards and typographic jingle bells!
