Emily The Pemily Designer Feature:

About Emily The Pemily:

I have a BTEC in Fine Art, a Degree in Illustration, and a Graduate Certificate in Digital Surface Design from the University of the Arts, London. I have also designed for Topman and interned at Alexander McQueen’s menswear design dept. So what do I do with all that training? I design and hand print t-shirts of course!

After my McQueen internship I made a vow never to work for anybody else ever again and have complete creative control over everything I do.

With some money my grandfather gave me as a wedding present to invest in the future, I brought some silk screens and a load of t-shirts and printed them up in my bedroom and it felt so good I just kept doing it.

Inspirations:

I am influenced by so many things. I have loads of scrapbooks and sketch books labelled ‘Inspiration’ that I source from magazines, the internet, blogs, and photocopied books. The main influential theme you will see running through my work is British culture, customs and sayings. I’m obsessed with the royal family and old British proverbs.

Other people I adore are Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Jean- Michel Basquiat, American Folk Art, Mexican Folk Art, Leigh bullard, Rev. Howard Finster, Wayne Pate, William Edmunds, Tina Berning, David Sparshott, any rock and roller, Elvis, Kiss and many, many more.

Best Sellers:

By far the best selling and my signature piece is my ‘AMOR Moustache’ design. People go crazy for it. When I first showed it to my husband he hated it and thought it would never sell, but 2 years on and it’s still going strong. I literally designed this as a last minute addition for a range or t-shirts I designed at university for my final show. I thought my work needed a bit of humour and designed something I would go crazy for.

We Make Summer Fair:

At the We Make Summer Fair you should expect to see adult sweaters, adult t-shirts, Eco friendly tote bags, children’s t-shirts and really cute baby grows that are all designed and hand printed by me in my bedroom. Every design is printed on each clothing style so you could potentially have a whole family wearing emilythepemily t-shirts!

My inspiration and muse is my daughter. Having always loved making pretty little things, I started sewing little dresses, appliqué t-shirts, tutus, toys and accessories for the little lady. I then started getting requests and orders, and the rest is history. Above all, I love combining Scandinavian clean simple lines with English quirkiness & tradition.

Best Sellers:

baby tutu knickers

appliqué organic t-shirts

My best sellers are my original & beautiful baby tutu knickers and decorated organic t-shirts.

The tutus knickers are made from Liberty print fabric and trimmed with a beautiful double layer soft nylon tulle tutu. Stabo Designer Feature:

About Stabo:

Stabo is a partnership between Ed Benn and Ros Hathorn. Self taught we design and make our own products. We make a diverse range of products but screen printing and leather crop up quite frequently in our work.

Each year we add new products to the range and incorporate new techniques. Last year we bought an embossing machine, so we hope to really get to grips with that this year and do some great embossed products.

Inspirations:

We regularly sell at markets. I find that standing on a stall all day watching people, what they do, what they wear, what they use, how they want their lives to function and what they say to us is a great way to come up with new products and new ideas. We have a folder where we write down all our new image ideas and then every few months we sit down decide on our favourites and get cracking with them.

Best Sellers:

At the moment our phone holders are really popular. They fit an iphone but will also a fit a wide range of other phones and some cameras

.

We Make Summer Fair:

As always we will probably bring far too much stuff for our space but there will be lots of small accessories as well as clothing and bags.

Gift Guide: Kids

Gift Written By Tracy Brown from White Lily Green

We all know how difficult it can be to buy gifts for children. Especially when you are looking for something a bit different. The Designers exhibiting in the We Make London Summer Fair may have just what you've been looking for. Here we have a selection of my favourite gifts and party wear for your little ones.

Cara's Creations
Personalised paintings

I just love Cara's Personalised Paintings. What little girl or boy wouldn't love to see all their favourite things in a painting on their wall? Just send her a list of the recipient’s favourite things and Cara will make it all happen. I love the magical, fairytale feel of her work. Such a refreshing change from the mass produced keepsakes you find in the high street.

Contact Caras Creations for prices and more information

Chickp

Super Stickers

My children love these super stickers. Bright and bold, and like nothing you've seen before. We have some of the ones they can colour in themselves too, which is such a clever idea (See ChickP's Website) not only are they gorgeous, and fun, but ChickP's products are environmental friendly. Where possible, the materials are sourced from small, local or family run businesses. The paints used are non- toxic, and the packaging is recycled, recyclable and the bags they arrive in are 100% biodegradable.

Isabee
Pirate costume

Starry Girl costume

Dressing up is an activity that all children enjoy and it’s vital in their development, as it encourages imagination, role play and experimentation. So really, a dressing up outfit is an educational gift!
I adore the Pirate Costume, which is suitable for both boys and girls, and the Starry Girl Costume, which is every little girls dream. It’s beautiful. Isabees costumes are so much nicer than anything I've seen in the shops and very original. Each part of the outfit is available separately, so you can buy as much or as little as you want, or even mix and match!

Little Chook
T-shirts – singing Bluebirds

If you are looking for a cute gift in the clothing department, then look no further than Little Chook. Her T-shirt's are just adorable and completely unique to anything you'll find on the high street. I particularly heart her Singing bluebirds T-shirt. So cute!

Love You longtime Baby

Black & white party dress

Well a Birthday girl needs a party dress, and this is a favourite of mine. The monochrome floral look is very in at the moment and the beautifully vivid pink bow sets it off to perfection. All dresses are individually handmade so at £45 this is a fantastic buy.

Babies

Milk Two Bunnies

Whenever I'm buying a gift for a new baby, I always like to make sure my gift is original so the new parents don't end up with a dozen of the same thing. Milk Two Bunnies gift sets are a perfect solution. I think this 2 Bunnies Gift set is just gorgeous for any ne
wborn little girl. They come in a beautifully packaged box too! This particular gift set is £40. Check out their website for more combinations which are available on request. If looking for a boy’s gift, this scrummy set is just perfect.

Nyoki

If you are looking for a more traditional hat and booties set, Nyoki have beautifully made sets with a modern twist. They are made using 100% organic cotton yarn, which is lovely and soft for a delicate baby’s skin. This gorgeous set for little boys features a cute little car – So adorable! Again, your gift wrapping worries are solved as Nyoki present their gist sets in beautiful recycled gift boxes with tissue paper and matching ribbon. Perfect at £56.99.

Sidney
Age T-shirts

Age T-shirts are such a great idea to mark a little ones Birthday. Whether for a gift or as party wear, they become an irreplaceable keepsake after the big day. This Number and bug T-Shirt is incredible cute & funky! More and more Mums seek original clothing for their well dressed kiddies nowadays, so sidneysidney's T-shirts are a must buy! Check out sidneysidneys Etsy shop for more ages and designs.
A bargain buy at £16

Toby Boo
Soldier Doll

No Nursery should be without some childhood n
ostalgia and Tobyboo's fantastic one off pieces would make a great addition to any childs room. I particularly love this soldier doll. We all remember the vintage toy soldiers from back in the day and this little guy brings back those enchanting memories and with it, introduces that same magic for our own children.
It’s not suitable to play with due to small parts, but it is a fantastic decoration to add those personal finishing touches. He would look fabulous on a mantel or sitting in an easy chair.
Soldier doll is £40.
