About Lovely Gorgeous Things:
What did you start doing what you do?
I started creating skincare products after I had had some surgeries which left me with scars on my tummy. I was introduced to Unrefined Ghanaian Shea Butter and soon after, began experimenting bit by bit with additional oils and butters to see what products I could come up with. After a few years (and a lot of encouragement and support from family, friends and ongoing, disability-centred entrepreneurial support from organisations such as Leonard Cheshire Disability), I launched my vegan-friendly, handmade skincare range called Lovely Gorgeous Things.
Why did you chose your business name?
I chose my business name because it was how friends described my products when I first started making them J
How long have you been doing what you do?
I have been making skincare products for quite some years now but launched Lovely Gorgeous Things in October 2009
What else they you like to do?
Soooo many things! I love learning how to make new crafts e.g. jewellery, brooches, dressmaking and making bread! But have recently discovered a new joy for wheelchair basketball and badminton.
What is your ultimate goal for your business?
To be able to get as many people as possible having everyday luxuries in their lives, as well as inspiring the disabled entrepreneurs of the future.
If you could make something for a famous person who and what would it be....?
Hmmm, if I could make something for a famous person, I would choose Ms Oprah Winfrey as she is a true inspiration. I would make the ultimate Tootsie Treat pamper box which would be chock full of fabulous pampering treats for her feet as I recall seeing that she loves getting her feet pampered.
Inspirations:
My inspiration is the smiles I see on the faces of my family and friends and even strangers, when they see that I am pushing beyond the boundaries of my disabilities and am growing as a person while developing Lovely Gorgeous Things.
Best Sellers:
Shea Body Butter – this product is one of my signature pieces of work and also my best seller. It gets wonderful feedback from customers who have had really positive outcomes when using it on their dry/problematic skin conditions.
