About Nyoki:

What did you start doing what you do?

Coming from Kosovo where handmade crafting is a tradition and where we ourselves were raised mostly with things made by our grandmothers, our mums and ourselves, since the crafting was passed from one generation to another to this day – the idea came why not pass it as a gift to someone we don’t know.

Why did you chose your business name?

Instead of choosing founders name we chose founders nickname. We thought since it’s children’s wear company, Nyoki sounded more fun, as it sounds like the Italian dish, little soft dumplings (gnocchi), which one can associate with little children.

How long have you been doing what you do?

This March we celebrated our 2^nd Birthday, by launching Spring/Summer 11 Collection

What else they you like to do?

Fashion was my sister’s thing. Mum always loved creating beautiful pieces. And I was always in love with theatre and acting. But after doing what I do, I love it and enjoy it too much, to think of doing anything else.

What is your ultimate goal for your business?

Now we are working with a relatively small group of women in Kosovo as well as making some of the things here in the UK. We are so proud when we think that these traditional and timeless pieces also play a part in rebuilding lives destroyed by war.

We have so many plans for this small company. With a growing customer base, including many celebrities, we believe the future of our business is bright; and feel thrilled that we can help less fortunate people at the same time.

If you could make something for a famous person who and what would it be....?

If I could make something for a famous person it would be nothing more as special than the products we stock today, but I would have loved to make them for Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt’s children, Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban’s children, Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony’s children, Royalty children and the list goes on and on J

Inspirations:

Inspiration mostly has come from childhood nostalgia including new designs in girl’s dresses and skirts and sumptuous new colours like shallot, pepper, tuberose & lupin. Every season demands a fresh look at what people want and how we can deliver it with the best service and product possible.
