Mary Kilvert Designer Feature:

About Mary Kilvert:

When did you start doing what you do?
I graduated with an illustration degree from Kingston University in 2004. I took a year out to travel after graduating and have been working as an illustrator since. I started making products to sell at craft fairs and through my website 4 years ago.

What else would you like to do?
I would love to keep expanding my products and create new designs.

What is your ultimate goal for your business?
To keep developing and expanding!

If you could make something for a famous person who and what would it be....?
It would be nice to design some wallpaper for Joanna Lumley, I can imagine her being great fun and she also loves animals and cats. I recently read her biography where she described her house in detail, it sounded lovely.

Inspirations:
I love animals and their quirky characters, especially my cat! I also love creating work inspired by fairytales and children's stories. I get a lot of my inspiration from visits to the V&A.

Best Sellers:

One of my best selling prints is called Colourful Sheep, which is based on a children's book I have written. I experimented with printing the image onto fabric and making it into cushions, which have been one of my best selling items.
