Cara's Creations Designer Feature:

About Cara's Creations:

My name is Caragh Buxton, I am an illustrator, painter, and ceramic artist, I trained in fine art and have come to ceramics more recently.

I illustrate books for children and greetings cards for high street shops

All my ceramics are lovingly painted by hand , glazed and fired by me in my Kilne., the ceramics can be personalised for a special occasion. My cards and prints are produced by my hugely patient graphic designer, Guy, who puts up with my mind changing with incredible patience!

I have been working hard to produce a range of greetings cards, prints and ceramics.

My usual place of work is the kitchen table! Although, now that the business is growing I am in the process of moving my work area into a studio in the garden.

I live in south London with my partner and 4 children, I work around a time table of ballet drop offs, football training and tea dates....

Inspiration:

I draw upon my children for many of my ideas, look at Monster print... this is an adaptation of my youngest boys dream about some friendly Monsters!

Best Sellers:

Ballerinas has definitely been the favourite print, along with footballers, closely followed by my Fairy Place print..

We Make Summer Fair:

At the summer fair I will have a collection of ceramics, cards and prints

Love You Long Time baby Designer Feature:

About Love You Long Time Baby:

I started 10 years ago making womenswear and after this time in the industry and following the birth of my daughter I decided to branch out a start a baby range, I thought there was a niche in the market for clothing that was hand crafted with alternative patterns and colours to the tradition pink. I work from a small studio in the heart of Camden and am currently exploring the idea of adding boys clothes to my range.

After 10 years running "Love You Longtime" for grown ups I decided it was high time little princesses got a piece of the cake and so decided to start Love You Longtime Baby! I have always believed that it's all about the trimmings and details, and so have translated my love of colour, pattern and embellishment into a mini collection. I have tried to create a collection that is charming and pretty yet with a chic twist. Pink is fabulous, but so is red, blue, green, purple, orange black and white! All of our dresses are handmade in a studio in London from the finest cotton and finished with hand selected buttons, ribbons and trims. We update seasonally paying close attention to catwalk trends and themes to ensure Love You Longtime babies stand out in the playground and lead the way in mini couture!
Inspirations:

I am inspired by pattern and colour, I adore trims and finishes, and i love mixing colours and textures together. I refere to adult trends on the catwalk seasonally and take elements from high end collects to throw a bit of adge and twist to traditional baby wear!

Best Sellers:

My bestsellers are the bow t shirts and traditional a line dresses, nautical spots go well, as do more quirky prints such as the skull and cross bone or black and white flower

We Make Summer Fair:

Love you longtime baby specializes in exclusive hand made childrens and babywear, using the finest hand picked cottons and finished with beautiful trims, buttons and ribbons.

Katie Viggers Designer Feature:

About Katie Viggers:

I'm a children's book illustrator and mono print obsessive. All my work starts off a black and white mono print, sometimes it stays like this and some times I play around with it on the computer. I only really draw animals and generally get obsessed with one animal at a time.

Inspirations:

I love to create prints that make me laugh or tell a story. I'm a big fan of Hockney, Sara Fanelli, Judith Kerr and bears. I like to create child friendly illustrations that have a certain amount of sophistication and humour.

Best Sellers:

My bears work seem to be the most popular, particularly this one which is the opening spread to a new picture book I'm working on about bears. It's available as a card, a big print or a mug

We Make Summer Fair:

At We Make Summer I will be selling, original mono prints, limited edition prints, cards, bear mugs (maybe some others too) and my new alphabet prints

I have a website www.katieviggers.com and my work is available to buy on etsy www.katieviggers.etsy.com

Designer Spotlight- Littlechook

Karin is a trained Textile Designer and has previously worked as an in house designer. Now a full time mum Karin has launched her own range of textile products. Karin started out making cushion covers but has changed direction and is now making a wonderful range of children’s clothing and gifts. These are printed using ‘Flock’ onto children’s T shirts, babies’ blankets, baby gro’s and bibs.

‘I am not really keen on slogan t shirts for children as it seems to be more about the adults than the kids. I’ve tried to come up with something fun, colourful and original that will appeal to children and adults. Customers have told me that the t shirts have helped their children learn new words as the animals and birds are easily recognisable which is nice feedback!’

Waiting For We Make Christmas:
For We Make Christmas Karin will have a great range of her textiles. Including her Blue Birds toddlers T shirt which is her daughters favourite.

Karin is also working on a new range of organic cotton babygros with a rabbit, heart or bird print. Very cute for stylish Christmas babies.

Can’t Wait For We Make Christmas:
A wonderful range of Little Chook’s products can be found on her website www.littllechook.co.uk and her online store www.littlechook.etsy.com
