Natalie Nicklin Designer Feature:

About Natalie Nicklin:

I am a designer/illustrator/artist/none of/ all of above. My work lies somewehre between these disiplins within the blurred boundaries between art, design and simply making things.

I make screen prints, collages, digital illustrations and paintings. Design logos, fonts and t-shirts; take photographs with various knackered old cameras and my shiny SLR. A lot of my work uses found images and analog photography but I'm almost as likely to draw, scrawl or use digital sources. My interests lie in the old and the new, the broken and the fixed, the future and the past. But mainly an old broken future that exists only in arcane archives or people's unreliable memories.

Inspirations:

Space, geometric patterns, visions of the future, music, forgotten lost places, trees, the past as it is now, as it will be and as it never was, science, colours, paper, mountains, forests, concrete, British new town, skyscrapers, broken stuff and things I don't understand.

Best Sellers:

I'm pretty happy about "Reflection"which has recently been selected to be included in a collection curated by urban outfitters and sold via their print shop. Appartment Therapy selected it as one of their favourite piece in the collection.

We Make Summer Fair:

I will be selling limted edition prints and screen prints and some one off, very limited screen printed t-shirts that will be unique to the Summer Fair.

Cara's Creations Designer Feature:

About Cara's Creations:

My name is Caragh Buxton, I am an illustrator, painter, and ceramic artist, I trained in fine art and have come to ceramics more recently.

I illustrate books for children and greetings cards for high street shops

All my ceramics are lovingly painted by hand , glazed and fired by me in my Kilne., the ceramics can be personalised for a special occasion. My cards and prints are produced by my hugely patient graphic designer, Guy, who puts up with my mind changing with incredible patience!

I have been working hard to produce a range of greetings cards, prints and ceramics.

My usual place of work is the kitchen table! Although, now that the business is growing I am in the process of moving my work area into a studio in the garden.

I live in south London with my partner and 4 children, I work around a time table of ballet drop offs, football training and tea dates....

Inspiration:

I draw upon my children for many of my ideas, look at Monster print... this is an adaptation of my youngest boys dream about some friendly Monsters!

Ballerinas has definitely been the favourite print, along with footballers, closely followed by my Fairy Place print..

Justine Ellis Designer Feature:

About Justine Ellis:

What seems like an age ago I studied Fine Art. Since then, I have taught young people with learning difficulties in schools and galleries in London. Although I continued to be creative, it has only been in the last two years that I started to design my own range of screen-printed products. Recently, I scarily took the plunge to give up the day job and concentrate on printing full time. It’s been exciting and so far so good.

I live in a leafy corner of southeast London, where I work messily from home, but venture north to Hackney to print at the fantastic Printclub London. I print using an environmentally friendly, water based, screen-printing process. I endeavour to print on recycled, Fairtrade, stock.

Inspirations:

I’m inspired by mid century design, and architecture; Lucienne Day, Alvar Aalto, Marimekko to name but a few. A huge inspiration though, must be the ‘millions of favourite blogs’ I look to for distraction on a daily basis.

Best Sellers:

My best sellers are probably my ‘Knitting Pattern Tote Bags’ and although it pains me to say it when the sun is out, my ‘Christmas Tree & Lights’ Christmas cards.

.

We Make Summer Fair:

I’ll be bringing a bit of everything to the fair, hopefully a little something for everyone - from brooches to bags and prints on paper. I’ll also be showing some new printed textiles that are still under wraps, so you’ll have to come along and check it all out on the day!

Crumpet and skirt Designer Feature:

About Crumpet and Skirt:

Crumpet & Skirt is a new gift and homeware range for the discerning pin-up devotee.

Designed by London-based Elizabeth Pinnock, the products showcase images of saucy 50s ladies, tastefully attired in vintage undies and assuming a range of coquettish poses.

Elizabeth is inspired by the fabulous sexiness of pin-up girls, and uses them in simple designs that showcase the images in the best possible way. Elizabeth is constantly playing with new ideas for products that are both civilised and saucy so that there’s no need to hide them when Granny comes for Tea…

Inspirations:

With a love for all things vintage, quirky and fun Crumpet & Skirt came out of a personal desire to produce high quality products like in the old days.

Best Sellers:

Crumpet & Skirt’s ethos is to be goal to be always cheeky but never rude. This is perfectly demonstrated by the collection of Peek-a-Boo mugs. Virginal white bone china on the outside, but tip them up for a slurp of tea and inside is a rather alluring 'Tease Maid'. Guaranteed to raise a smile with your morning brew!

We Make Summer Fair:

The unique (I’m certain that there isn’t an equivalent out there) nature of the wrapping paper make it fantastic choice for wrapping presents in an unusual and witty way. Since being featured in The Sunday Times Style magazine it has become one of my most popular products.

Complimenting the wrapping paper I have a collection of greetings cards which will grace any mantelpiece with a little bit of fun and cheek.

With a number of new products in the development I am hoping to be able to launch some of them at We Make London.
