The Aviary Designer Feature:

About The Aviary:

Having begun as a pleasurable past time for Ben and Victoria, two young, indecisive (and flat broke) fine artists, The Aviary has quickly blossomed into a fledgling small business. Started less than a year ago from our home studio, The Aviary has already been picked up by a prestigious online marketplace, notonthehighstreet.com.

We graduated from art school in 2006 and have kept up our fine art practices, individually making one off pieces of work ranging from small drawings to site specific installations, but have found that the real pleasure in creating is the hands-on ‘doing’.

Inspirations:

Both of us have always loved all things vintage and preloved, spending a lot of spare time and money trawling through charity shops, second hand stores, flea markets, bootsales and, of course, eBay. The Aviary brings together our passion for collecting and making. Turning old into new, through redesigning, reinventing and finally rehoming.

Best Sellers:

Our expertly bound, handmade journals, notebooks and diaries are our strongest line of products. Lovingly covered with vintage ephemera and hand-cut images, everyday admin becomes something really special.

Our delightful and often amusing, handmade and absolutely one of a kind brooches always prove popular because the wearer knows that they have a truly unique piece of jewellery.

We Make Summer Fair:

Our range is continually evolving, but we specialize in handmade, decorative home-wares, gift items and original, affordable artworks utilizing our treasure trove of vintage ephemera. Popular products include framed and unframed original collage, assemblage and stationery (hand-bound journals, diaries, notebooks and cards) as well as pin-badges and beautifully crafted brooches.

For the Summer Fair we are also making a small number of delicate, original drawings and limited edition prints on recycled and vintage papers.
