Retropoddle Designer Feature:

About Retropoddle:

What did you start doing what you do?

I come from a costume making background but found that I didn't enjoy it as a job so I thought I'd put my skills to good use in another way. I've always been interested in textiles and have been learning to design on computers and printing my own fabrics. I seen some home accessories in shops recently and thought 'I can make that!' So I am!

Why did you chose your business name?

I wanted a name that stood out and reflected the fun vintage style element of my work and I like poodles!

How long have you been doing what you do?

I've been making for a long time for fashion and costume but I have recently decided in the past few months to make home accessories to sell at craft fairs.

What else they you like to do?

I am a culture junkie so living in London I'm spoiled by choice. Art galleries are my favourite place!

What is your ultimate goal for your business?

I want to produce my own printed designs to sell in shops, online and at craft fairs and of course be able to make a living from it!

Inspirations:

I am inspired by art, architecture and fashion. I love print especially if they are quirky and retro such as by Lucienne Day. I love the work of fashion designers such as McQueen, Galliano and Erdem. But ultimately I am inspired by art my first and last love.

Best Sellers:

I have only been making these animal cushions recently but they bring a smile to people's faces because they are quirky and light hearted and that is what I want my products to reflect.
