Designer Feature Series: Meet Sanna Panda

About Sanna Panda:
Sannapanda is a range of hand-made accessories for you, your home and your travels.
All the products are designed, printed & made by Sanna King, in her workshop in Hackney.
Originally studied Footwear & Accessories at Cordwainers College, she moved back to the area few years later and set up a studio space with other designer-makers.
Currently working predominantly with felt (35%wool 65% viscose) for its tactile and insulating properties, to produce hot-water bottle covers and eyemasks that are both soft and cosy to wear and use.

Inspirations:

Inspiration for the screen-printed collection came from childhood holidays spent in her mother’s native Finland. The imagery of the abundant forest scenes are drawn from memories from the never-ending midsummer days. Illustrated using scissors and scalpels, rather than pen or ink. They have used the same technique to create the elements for the website.
By contrast the beautiful but freezing winters and need for warmth and comfort has influenced the cosiness of the materials and nature of the products themselves.

Best Sellers:

The bestsellers are the Hearty Sleepy sets. Based on a scene from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, in which Holly Golighty answers her door with an eyemask atop her head, and tassels dangling elegantly from her earplugs. They are popular as unique gifts for the girl (or sometimes, boy) who has almost everything already! Perfect for taking a nap while traveling, or when you just to get some peace and quiet at home!

We Make Christmas Pop Up Shopping Experience:
At We Make this Christmas, Sannapanda will be sharing a table with the wonderful Strikk Handknits. With Tanya’s Norwegian roots, and Sanna’s Finnish blood, you can expect a Scandinavian Spectacular! Filled with textured knitted treasures, pretty printed and appliqué pieces you should be able to find something to make your home and life a little cosier!
